Hainan Science and Technology Museum officially opened on 29 April 2026 and has quickly become one of Haikou’s newest attractions.
It is the first large-scale provincial science museum in Hainan Island. The museum combines science, technology, and hands-on activities, making it an excellent destination for families with children. Visitors can experience science through interactive exhibits and games while learning about a wide range of scientific topics in an engaging way.
The museum has five floors in total, with exhibition halls located on Levels 2 to 5. Each floor features a different theme, including Deep Space Exploration, Curious World, Deep Sea Discovery, and Exploring Hainan’s Natural Environment.
It is recommended to start from the top floor and work your way down.
This floor focuses on space and aerospace technology. As Hainan is home to China's well-known space launch facilities, the museum displays some of its most important exhibits here, including the Chang’e-5 Return Capsule and samples of lunar soil.
A marine-themed exhibition area featuring the wonders of the ocean.
This floor highlights Hainan’s local geography, ecology, and natural resources.
A science playground filled with interactive exhibits. It is especially popular with children, who can learn scientific principles through games and hands-on activities that connect science with everyday life.
Among all exhibition floors, 2F and 5F are the most popular areas for visitors.
