The Bund, or Waitan in Chinese, is located on the banks of the Huangpu River in Shanghai, with a total length of 1.5 kilometers. Since the 19th century, the Bund has been China’s financial and foreign trade center, and many Chinese and foreign banks were established here.
At the Bund, in addition to viewing the scenery of the Oriental Pearl Tower, the Huangpu River and looking at the bustling and modern skyscrapers on the opposite side, you can also see historical buildings in various styles. Most of these buildings were built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. At that time, the Bund became the concessions of Britain, France, and the United States, and merchants from other Western countries also came here to invest and do business. Therefore, different architectural styles from many countries gathered here, with a total of 52 buildings, known as the 'Museum of World Architecture'.
