Jinli is one of Chengdu’s best-known historic and cultural areas. Historically, Jinli was once a lively commercial street, but over time, the original street disappeared and no longer exists in original form.
The Jinli that visitors see today is located at No. 231-1, Wuhouci Street, Wuhou District, Chengdu, right next to the Wuhou Shrine. It is a reconstructed street designed to reflect the style of the Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China period.
Things to do in Jinli
- Stroll through the ancient-style street and admire architecture inspired by the Ming and Qing dynasties.
- See and experience traditional Chinese intangible cultural heritage, such as Shu embroidery, paper cutting, shadow puppetry, and sugar painting.
- Experience daily Sichuan life by relaxing in a teahouse, watching Sichuan opera face-changing performances, or trying the local ear-cleaning service.
- Taste popular Sichuan snacks, including San Da Pao, Dan Dan noodles, Guokui flatbread, and Liangfen jelly noodles.
During major traditional Chinese festivals, Jinli often hosts special events, giving visitors a chance to watch a variety of traditional performances and shows.
Best time to visit
Late afternoon through the evening. After dark, red lanterns light up the street, creating a charming and nostalgic atmosphere that is great for photos.

Directions
Take Chengdu Metro Line 10 and get off at Wuhou Shrine Station (武侯祠站). Exit through Exit A2, then walk about 200 meters to the southwest.
