Wuhou Shrine in Chengdu was first built in the year 223 AD. It is the only shrine in China that honors a ruler, Liu Bei, together with his ministers and generals such as Zhuge Liang, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei in the same place for remembrance and worship. It is also the most influential Three Kingdoms heritage museum in the world.
Highlights
- Visit the Hanzhaolie Temple (汉昭烈庙), dedicated to Liu Bei, and the Wuhou Shrine (武侯祠), dedicated to Zhuge Liang.
- Stroll along the red walls and bamboo groves with a strong traditional Chinese atmosphere. Many visitors wear Hanfu here for photos.
When visiting Wuhou Shrine, you may see fresh flowers placed in front of Zhuge Liang’s statue. This is a common way for Chinese people to show respect and admiration for him as a historical hero.
After visiting Wuhou Shrine, you can easily walk to Jinli Ancient Street, which is located right beside it.

Take Chengdu Metro Line 10 and get off at Wuhou Shrine Station (武侯祠站). Exit through Exit A2, then walk about 200 meters to the southwest.
